The Autumnal Equinox

With the Autumnal Equinox yesterday, Fall has officially arrived.  And it did not disappoint with falling temperatures and falling leaves.  You can smell the change in the atmosphere and hear the marching bands off in the distance.  For a lot of Boatjammers I know, this is their favorite season.  Fall is also my favorite season as well as winter, spring and summer.   Hope all of you have a wonderful, colorful Autumn!  Signed, Hester Crain

The Empty Page...

You're just sitting there with a guitar, a hot cup of coffee, and a blank page.  Waiting.  Waiting.  But you're there, and that's half the battle.  Your mind races, rests, and wanders.  And suddenly, the emptiness of the page becomes the muse, and ideas start bubbling up from the bottom of your brain.  Sometimes these bubbles are brilliant, sometimes they're bland, but at least you're there to pop 'em and see what's inside.  Showing up is half the battle...

Summer's Almost Over...

When I was a kid, school started after Labor Day.  That meant the end of freedom for me and countless other bike-riding, pool-swimming, fort-building, pond-fishing, don't-come-into-the-house-until-supper-time, kids.   How I relished that last weekend of vacation, trying to soak up every last ray of sunshine.  Sporting our back-to-school haircuts, we played a little harder, got home a little later, and tried not to think about the fact that our eternal summer of magic and mystery was coming to a close.  What a beautiful, bittersweet time. I'd give anything to live those moments again...

Finding Space

There's just not enough space in my life.  I live in a suburb where the beautiful houses are piled next to one another.  I drive in traffic where cars squeeze and elbow for position.   Perhaps worse than the lack of physical space is the clutter I find in my brain.  I wake up and check out the weather and traffic on my Android.  If I have to wait for anything I play a game on my phone or surf the web.  There always seems to be a television recycling news, or a radio station recycling cliches.   If you believe in the Sacred, and I do, I believe it resides in the space that modern life continually infringes upon.   Find that space.  When you vacation, vacate.   Take a walk.   Cook.   Fish.  Let your feet dangle in a stream.  Watch a sunset from a boat...

Captain Jack At The Boathouse

Today is Tuesday, August 23rd and with earthquakes rocking the country,  we are discussing the end of the world. Meanwhile, Cap'n Jack and Hester Crain are plucking guitars and singing chantys about the faraway sea and the limitless horizon.

We enjoyed playing last week at The Hard Rock Cafe for the Big brothers/Big Sisters celebration night. We'd like to give a special

B Jammer's shout-out to Shaun Connely who provided great sound for the occasion.
